Hunger War-whuuut?
Where’s the war and who are we fighting? The war is here and we're fighting Hunger. 



What IS Hunger?


Perhaps to you it means counting the minutes until class is over so that you can go grab that breakfast that you neglected to eat when you rushed out the door this morning?


Perhaps it means smelling grandma’s turkey right after she pulls it out of the oven?


Perhaps it means waking up in the middle of the night in order to rescue that last piece of chocolate cake in the refrigerator?



Well for 851, 014 Canadians, it means not being able to afford enough food for themselves and their families. According to FoodBanksCanada.ca, food bank use has increased by 20% in the last year. 38% of those receiving food are children and youth under the age of 18. In our province of British Columbia alone, almost 100,000 people had to visit food banks. 30% of these British Columbians suffering from hunger are children. Such findings are disturbing when we consider ourselves to be living in a first world nation. 


This war is right in your own local community. The enemy is Hunger. The time for an Army against hunger starts now. It’s a chance to directly affect the lives of those who suffer from hunger in our own  community.
